The YC 2026 Gold Map — Where $290M of the Smartest Seed Money Went, and the Exact Plays to Use It

We pulled every launched 2026 company from Y Combinator's public directory — all 580 of them (Winter 198, Spring 196, Summer 179, Fall 7 so far) — and at YC's published $500K standard deal that's $290M of the smartest seed money on earth, mapped. INSIDE: (1) THE SIX PATTERNS — what 580 checks agree on: 473 companies (82%) are AI, 241 (42%) ship agents that do work end-to-end (up from 20% in 2023), the fundable team collapsed to a median of TWO people, 111 companies moved into the physical world plus 56 in defense and space, 90 build infrastructure FOR AI, and 437 (75%) sit in San Francisco — plus the pitches that actually got funded this cycle, from 'Robot Cowboys that Herd Cattle with AI Drones' (3 people) to a 2-person computer-use data company.
