TYPESAFE AI'S JEV · 505 REAL DECISIONS, TESTED

The six jobs where Jev beats Claude and GPT on cost and speed, the confidence rule that tells you when to trust it, the four places it loses, and how to use it today while TypeSafe's sign-ups are closed

The companion to "This AI Can't Write. It's 100× Cheaper Anyway." Jev is TypeSafe AI's first System One model (launched September 15, 2026): it never writes text, it returns a pick from your options, a score on your scale or a yes/no probability, each with a confidence number, at $0.042 per million input tokens with free output. We ran 505 real, already-labelled decisions from public datasets through Jev, Claude Opus 5.5, GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-5.6 Luna with identical instructions: Jev got 382 right for $0.012 in total with a typical answer in 0.32 seconds; Opus 5.5 got 395 right for $2.96 at 2.38 seconds. PAGE 1 — what Jev is and the four-model scoreboard. PAGE 2 — the six jobs where it wins (support tickets, a prompt-injection guard, agent tool picks, fact-checks against a source, bulk data, real time) with right answers, speed and cost for every model: 109–165× cheaper than Opus 5.5 on every job. PAGE 3 — the confidence rule (confidence ≥ 0.85 was right 85% of the time, below it 45%) and the four places Jev loses: the hardest sorting, math, next to the cheapest model, and prompt injection. PAGE 4 — how to use it today through Vercel's AI Gateway (model typesafe-ai/jev, listed free until September 25, 2026) or Cloudflare Workers AI, with copy-paste starter code. PAGE 5 — the one-line rule for when to use Jev and when to use a normal model. Lab numbers are ours: small public samples, one run each.
