Get the Weekly Trending Cheat-Sheet

I pulled GitHub's WEEKLY trending page (live, 2026-07-08) and verified every star count against GitHub's API. The story of the week: 8 of the top 10 don't run alone — you install them INTO a coding agent you already have (Claude Code / Codex / Cursor). The terminal is the new app store. Each repo comes with the exact one-line install and an HONEST read. THE TEN (ranked by stars gained this week): 1) strix (usestrix/strix, +10.8k/wk, 38.5k) — an open-source AI penetration tester that attacks a running copy of your app and hands you the bugs plus the fix; 'curl -sSL https://strix.ai/install | bash' then 'strix --target ./app' (only test apps you own). 2) agency-agents (msitarzewski/agency-agents, +9.7k, 129k) — an entire AI agency, 232 specialist agents; you want ~7, not 232 (watch our '232 AI Agents — The 7 To Actually Use' deep-dive). 3) caveman (JuliusBrussee/caveman, +7.8k, 86k) — a skill that answers in caveman-speak to cut ~65% of output tokens; 'npx skills add JuliusBrussee/caveman' (half meme, half real). 4) meetily (Zackriya-Solutions/meetily, +5.8k, 20.6k) — a 100% local AI meeting notetaker via Ollama, no cloud; 'git clone github.com/Zackriya-Solutions/meetily'. 5) exercises-dataset (hasaneyldrm/exercises-dataset, +5.7k, 10.7k) — 433 fitness exercises with muscle/equipment/instructions/animation, free content to build an app on; 'git clone github.com/hasaneyldrm/exercises-dataset'. 6) ai-berkshire (xbtlin/ai-berkshire, +4.6k, 11.7k) — agents that analyze a company the way Buffett, Munger, Duan Yongping & Li Lu would, on Claude Code/Codex; 'git clone github.com/xbtlin/ai-berkshire' (research, not a crystal ball). 7) OmniRoute (diegosouzapw/OmniRoute, +4.6k, 13.1k) — one free endpoint into 230+ providers with free Claude/GPT/Gemini, auto-fallback and prompt compression; 'npx -y omniroute' (free-tier stacking is a gray zone — prototype, not production). 8) ai-job-search (MadsLorentzen/ai-job-search, +4.5k, 10.6k) — a Claude Code framework that evaluates listings, tailors your CV per role, writes cover letters and preps interviews; 'gh repo fork MadsLorentzen/ai-job-search' (3,600 forks on 10k stars = real adoption). 9) codex-plugin-cc (openai/codex-plugin-cc, +4.3k, 26.6k) — run OpenAI's Codex from INSIDE Claude Code; '/plugin marketplace add openai/codex-plugin-cc' (OpenAI shipping a plugin for Anthropic's tool = the whole thesis). 10) system_prompts_leaks (asgeirtj/system_prompts_leaks, +4.3k, 52.9k) — the extracted system prompts behind Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Gemini, Grok, Cursor & more, a free prompting masterclass; 'git clone github.com/asgeirtj/system_prompts_leaks' (community-extracted — treat as very close, not gospel). THE 3-CHECK before you star: weekly-not-total (trending = stars gained this week), fork ratio (forks/stars — high means people actually use it), and how it installs (skill/plugin vs curl/docker/npx). Your first move: pick ONE and install it this week. Full credit to every open-source author. I do this list every week.
